OBITUARY: Maurice E. Cole

Maurice E. Cole, the son of Dr. Jasper F. and Erie Johnson Cole, was born at Iowa City, Iowa on May 20, 1907. His death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska on August 29, 1979 at the age of 72 years 3 months and 9 days.

In 1909 the family came to Aurora, where he grew to manhood, and received his education in the Aurora Public Schools, graduating from High School with the Class of 1925. He then attended the University of Nebraska.

After his schooling, he was employed in electric utilities companies in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. In 1954 he entered the field of City Management, serving as City Manager in Rawlins, Wyoming, Lexington, Nebraska; Sheridan, Wyoming and Banning, California, where he was residing at the time of his retirement in 1968 and returned to Aurora to make his home. After his retirement, for several years, he served as a Management consultant.

On June 18, 1927 he was united in marriage to Lois Horn at Nelson, Nebraska. Three children were born to them.

Maurice was a member of the Federated Church in Aurora; the Aurora Rotary Club; Aurora Lodge No. 68 A.F. & A.M. and the Kalif Temple of the Shrine in Sheridan, Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norman and J. Frank Cole.

His survivors are his wife, Lois; one son, Arthur of Concord, California; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Wright of Littleton, Colorado and Susan Cole of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Ruth McCornick of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren and other relatives and many close friends.
