John C. Condon

John C. Condon, age 81, of Aurora, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 10, at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. Rev. Monty Nelson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. on Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: JOHN C. CONDON

John C. Condon, the youngest son of Guernsey H. and Elizabeth (Schneider) Condon, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on September 23, 1923 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on January 4, 2005, at the age of 81.

John grew up in Aurora, Nebraska and graduated from Aurora High School in 1940.

He was united in marriage to Hazel Olsen on September 11, 1946 in Aurora.

John and Hazel began their life together on the family farm. In 1955, he and Hazel moved to Aurora where John worked with his brother, Charles, in the Condon Irrigation & Well Drilling Company. For several years, he worked at the Army Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, Nebraska. He became a Modern Woodmen of America agent, obtained a realtor's license and in 1977, he established Condon Real Estate and Insurance. Up to the time of his death, he was still an active realtor and insurance agent preparing primarily farm appraisals in the local area.

John was an active member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ serving on church committees and singing in the church choir. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, and playing the piano. He particularly enjoyed his daily visits with his close friends in the breakfast and coffee groups.

In the later years of his life, he dedicated himself to the loving care of his wife, Hazel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Marion, Lawrence, and Charles, and a sister, Lucile Van DeWalle.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife; one son, Jim (Shirley) Condon of Lincoln, Nebraska and two daughters, Sharon Nell of Satellite Beach, Florida and Cindy (John) Powers of Kapolei, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Jason and Kelly Powers, Michelle (Bill) Fowler, and Mike Condon; and one great granddaughter, Starr Fowler.
