Marion CondonFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 11, 1992 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Marion Condon Marion Paul Condon, the son of Guernsey and Elizabeth (Schneider) Condon, was born at Hampton, Nebraska, on June 17, 1908, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on May 7, 1992, at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 25 days. He attended country school near Hampton, then northeast of Aurora, and Aurora High School. He then began farming on his own at various farms near Aurora. On November 11, 1933, he was united in marriage to Lois Guard at York, Nebraska. After their marriage he continued farming in Hamilton County, and in the early 1950’s he began farming with the Waneks on a farm west of Aurora, where he developed a herd of registered holstein cattle, with his son Ronald. He was a 4-H dairy leader for about 30 years, and won many awards with the dairy herd, including the AK-SAR-BEN outstanding dairyman of the year. He has a display of his dairy accomplishment awards at the Aurora Plainsman Museum Agricultural Hall. The Condons made a home for a number of foster boys while living on the Wanek farm. After Marion retired he spent about 8 years as coach for the Association of Retarded Children. The A.R.C. was active in the summer Olympics and many other athletic events. In 1980, they moved to Aurora, and he continued dairy farming for one more year. Marion was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and also belonged to the Aurora Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Lt. Commander Robert Condon, who gave his life in the Viet Nam War, and Ronald Condon; one brother Charles and one sister Lucile Van DeWalle. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Lois of Aurora; 2 sons, Vance and his wife Ramona, of Silver Creek, and Gary and his wife Jean, of Pender; 2 brothers, John of Aurora and Lawrence of Exeter, California; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 2 daughters-in-law, Mary Jean Condon of Coronado, California and Deanna Berg of Phillips. |
