Melvin CoxMelvin Cox, age 70, of Aurora, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 13th at the Aurora Cemetery. Rev. Fred Nofer will officiate. No visitation. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: MELVIN COX Melvin Leon Cox, the son of Tommy B. and Callie L. (Hartline) Cox, was born at Haskell, Texas on June 10, 1939 and died at Grand Island, Nebraska on March 6, 2010, at the age of 70. Melvin lived in Texas most of his life where he drove for various over the road trucking companies. He was united in marriage to Shirley Anne Tiller on December 11, 1959 at Levelland, Texas. Melvin also team-drove with his son for several years. Shirley passed away on February 24, 1996. He moved to Aurora in September of 2009 to be closer to his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother, H.L. “Slim” Cox. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris of Litttlefield, Texas; sons, Alton (Pam) Cox of Clovis, New Mexico, Melvin Cox and fiancé Teresa of Littlefield, Texas and Matthew Cox and special friend Tracy of Aurora; daughters, Elaine Balderas of Littlefield, Texas and Priscilla (Marty) Collins of Littlefield, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy (Sharon) Cox of Jasper, Missouri, William (Janice) Cox of Levelland, Texas and Wilburn (Cindy) Cox of Amherst, Texas; and sister Nina Bartley of Midland, Texas. |
