Richard 'Dick' Crawford

Richard ‘Dick’ Crawford, age 67, of Phillips, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 25th at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Rev. Marta Wheeler will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7. Memorials may be made in care of the family. OBITUARY: RICHARD ‘DICK’ CRAWFORD

Richard Kent Crawford, the son of Elbert F. and Grace F. (Hafer) Crawford, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on January 16, 1941 and died in Phillips, Nebraska on October 22, 2008, at the age of 67.

Dick graduated from Doniphan High School and later served four years in the U.S. Navy, serving most of his time in Japan.

Dick was united in marriage to Marjorie Hinrichs on January 1, 1966 at St. Joseph, Missouri. He worked most of his life as a mechanic. He owned C & C Automotive and was later the owner of the Winchester Restaurant in Phillips. Dick retired in 2004.

Dick enjoyed playing softball and coaching baseball, building and racing stock cars with his son, Jim. He coached and sponsored Dick’s Demons softball team in the Grand Island League. Dick enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s activities, fishing and rebuilding tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, James Crawford

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjorie Crawford of Phillips; son, Jim (Linda) Crawford of Phillips; two grandchildren, Jacey and Brady Crawford of Phillips; five brothers, Larey (Marlene) Crawford of Phillips, Jack W. (Mary) Crawford of Phillips, Craig (Denise) Crawford of Grand Island, Keith Crawford of Stockham and Monte Crawford of Grand Island; three sisters, Susan (David) Runfelt of Missouri, Elberta Scott of Missouri and Karen Rollins of Central City and nieces, nephews and many friends.
