Gloria Cyr

Gloria Cyr, age 73, of Aurora, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Hamilton Manor.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 2nd at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Cole Fowler will officiate. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. in the Greenwood Cemetery at Franklin, Nebraska with Pastor Herman Keen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials made to the Dorcas Circle of the Aurora United Methodist Church. OBITUARY: GLORIA CYR

Gloria Marie Cyr, the daughter of Arthur M. and Frances M. (Johnston) Holtz, was born in Central City, Nebraska on October 13, 1935 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 30, 2008, at the age of 73.

She graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Gloria was united in marriage to Howard J. (Jim) Cyr on December 23, 1956 at Central City.

Her lifelong passions were teaching and practicing handwork and fiber arts, including weaving and spinning. She also was involved with organizations such as the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, Lincoln YMCA, the Boulder Museum of History, the Aurora Senior Center, Dorcas Circle, and the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer.

She was preceded in death by her father and her son, Leland A. Cyr.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Jim Cyr of Aurora; daughter, Mary (Ron) Shortridge and their daughter, Elissa all of Garden City, Kansas; mother, Frances Holtz of Central City; and sister, Shirley (Wendell) Meadows of Thornton, Colorado.
