Violet Danhauer
Violet Danhauer, age 92, of Central City, died Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 22nd at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. James Corson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Aurora United Methodist Church. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: VIOLET DANHAUER Violet Evelyn Danhauer, the daughter of Henry F. and Amy C. (Larson) Sandberg, was born on a farm northwest of Aurora, Nebraska on January 4, 1915 and died in Central City, Nebraska on February 18, 2007, at the age of 92. She grew up on a farm north west of Aurora. Violet attended Hamilton County schools and Grand Island Business College. After college Violet spent several years in Lincoln, before returning to Aurora to work at Moderow’s Variety Store. On March 11, 1937, she was united in marriage to Ellsworth W. Danhauer at United Brethren Church in York. They lived on farms north west of Aurora and their own farm northeast of Marquette. They farmed this and a quarter nearby until 1980, when they retired and moved into Aurora, where they lived for 20 years. They moved back to Central City in 2001 to be near family. Ellsworth passed away on June 16, 2003. Violet was a member of the United Methodist Church, Christian Women’s Club, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she enjoyed being chairman of the Visitors desk. Vacation time would take them to many places in the U.S. and surrounding areas by car or on bus tours. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Dorothy Howland. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Dorland (Flora) Danhauer of Des Moines, Iowa and Jerald (Janet) Danhauer of Central City; daughter, Sondra Lofland of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Keath Sandberg of Kearney and a sister, Virginia Henthorn of McCook. |
