Earl Daniel

Earl "Grandpa" Daniel, age 72, of Grand Island, died Wednesday night, October 2, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 7th at the Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Athol Cemetery in Athol, Kansas at 2:30 P.M. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: EARL DANIEL

Earl Eugene Daniel, the son of Ivan C. and Niona (Metcalf) Daniel, was born in Maloy, Iowa on December 9, 1929 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on October 2, 2002, at the age of 72.

He spent his childhood in the vicinity of Smith Center, Kansas and moved with his parents to Aurora, Nebraska in 1942.

Earl has been affiliated with the Mid-Nebraska Individual Services for many years. He spent the last 13 years in a group home in Grand Island. Earl loved to work, whenever there was contract work to do he would go, and whenever possible he would do his work with his earphones on.

Earl loved shopping and going to the library once a week. He enjoyed his fellow roommates and the rides he took around the area. His passion was Halloween, to Earl that was his national holiday. He loved all it involved the candy, costumes, decorating his room and even wearing the little plastic spider rings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Frank, Orville and Ivan; four sisters, Mathilda Daniel, Barbara Ellen Daniel, Thelma Stockwell and Iva Hasselman.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Helen Rogers of Lincoln and Rose Marie Roberts of Denver, Colorado; brother, William Daniel of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Marcene Neppl of Grand Island.
