Myrtle Davenport

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 5, 1983 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Myrtle Davenport

Myrtle Mae Davenport was born October 6, 1889 near Aurora, the daughter of Alfred Lorenzo and Mary Elizabeth Altig Entrekin. Her entire life was spent in Hamilton County with the exception of seven years spent in Butler and Garfield Counties. She attended the Aurora High School in Aurora. She taught school for four years.

As a young girl of thirteen years of age she joined the Bethany Baptist Church near Aurora and later transferred along with her husband their membership to the Evangelical United Brethern Church in Aurora in 1919. She was a devoted member and worker in this church as long as her health permitted.

On April 12, 1911 she was united in marriage to Roy E. Davenport in Lincoln. To this union two daughters were born, Mildred M. Benke and Eleanor Stromberg. She was preceded in death by her husband in November of 1955, father, mother, three sisters, one brother, her daughter, Mildred Benke, one granddaughter and two great-grandsons.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Eleanor and Lloyd Stromberg of Polk, two grandsons, Gary L. Stromberg of Anchorage, Alaska, Arlan L. Stromberg of Lincoln, two granddaughters, Carol Cudaback of Grand Island and Marjorie Bieck of Trumbull, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Other mementos: She was a member of the Dorcas Circle for many years, a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and a charter member of the Bon Amusement Club.

Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm.

She was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her and will be sadly missed. She departed this life May 2, 1983.
