Willis DawkinsWillis Dawkins, age 96, died Wednesday morning, November 19, 2003, at his daughter's home in Albion. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 22th at the Hampton Cemetery. Rev. Terry Otto will officiate. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: WILLIS DAWKINS Willis LeRoy Dawkins, the son of George Washington and Mary Isabelle (Sayers) Dawkins, was born in Leigh, Nebraska on July 7, 1907 and died in Albion, Nebraska on November 19, 2003, at the age of 96. He was raised on a farm in Albion and St. Edward. In 1940, he moved his family to Aurora where he traveled working for the REA when WWII broke out. Willis worked for the Hastings Navy Plant and the G.I. Ordinance Plant. In 1950, he farmed in the Phillips area. Around 1955, he moved to Tucson with his son Duane where he worked until he retired at the Davis Monthaw Air Force Base. In July of 2003 he moved to Albion in the care of his daughter, Deloris Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alma; son, Duane; grandson, granddaughter and great-grandson. Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Deloris Reed of Albion and Donna Kolar and her husband Jim of Eugene, Oregon; two sons, Bill Dawkins of Grand Island and Bob Dawkins and his wife Loretta of Grand Island and special friend, Kenny Bowling of Tucson, Arizona. |
