William Daxon

Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 26, 1979 at the Chapel of Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Nebraska Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

OBITUARY: William M. Daxon

William McArthur Daxon, the son of Bernard and Isabella McArthur Daxon, was born on May 8, 1898, at Hallock, Minnesota, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 24, 1979, at the age of 80 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

His childhood years were spent in the vicinity of his birth and as a young man he moved to the Bridgeport, Alliance area where he worked as a baker. From 1942 to 1945 he served the U.S. Navy, during World War 2. Following the war from 1946 to 1959 he operated the Aurora Pastry Shop, which was formerly the Jesse Bakery. He also made short stays in Chicago, Kearney, and Nebraska City. In 1968 he was employed by Inez Restaurant in Aurora as a pastry baker, where he worked until retirement in 1975.

Bill, as he was known to his friends, was a member of the Aurora Lions Club and the American Legion.

When his health began to fail he moved into the Veterans Home in Grand Island, where he has since resided.

Those who survive to mourn his passing are two brothers, John of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bernard of Winter Haven Florida, nieces and nephews, and many other close friends.
