OBITUARY: Grace Delano

Grace Delano, the daughter of James and Mary (Anderson) Nelson, was born at Harvard, Nebraska, on August 30, 1896, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 3, 1989, at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 3 days.

She grew up in the Harvard and Sutton areas, and on March 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Joe Delano at Saronville. In 1949, they moved to Omaha, and she worked in a diet kitchen in an Omaha hospital. They lived in Omaha for 25 years. Joe preceded her in death on March 16, 1965. In 1974, she moved to Aurora, where she has since resided.

Grace was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and was active in her church circles. She was also a lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a step-son Ben Delano; a step-daughter, Carol Standlee; and 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by a step-daughter Luella Salmon and her husband, A.F. “Shorty”. 8 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
