Eugene DerrFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 25, 1995, at Higby Mortuary Chapel in Aurora. Interment was held at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Eugene Derr Eugene Marion Derr, the son of Lewis “Doc” and Fern (Cox) Derr, was born at Phillips, nebraska, on June 11, 1926, and died at Saratoga, Arkansas, on January 29, 1995, at the age of 68 years, 7 months, and 9 days. He grew up in Aurora, where he attended Aurora Schools. On July 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie “Toni” Batorski, at Smith Center, Kansas. He was employed at Farmer’s Union Creamery in Aurora for 16 years, then moved to Broken Bow where he worked for Mid America for 17 years, and then moved to Grand Island where he worked for Grand Island Express for 19 years. In November they moved to Arkansas. Gene was a member of the Methodist Church, and belonged to the Broken Bow Elks Lodge #1688 for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bob, and a sister Doris Steele. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Rose Marie “Toni” of Saratoga, Arkansas; 4 sons, Dennis of Papillion, Ronald of McCook Terrance of Saratoga, Arkansas, and David of York; 2 daughters Patricia Daugherty of Merna, and Kathleen Patterson of Ft. Worth, Texas; 3 brothers, Melvin of Superior, Roy of Topeka, Kansas, and Him of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and 11 great grandchildren. |
