Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 19, 1995 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. Interment was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in York.

OBITUARY: Margaret Desch

Margaret K. Desch, the daughter of Oscar and Theresa Strand, was born at Norfolk, Nebraska, on September 27, 1898, and died at Seal Beach, California, on July 8, 1995, at the age of 96 years, 9 months, and 11 days.

She grew up and attended St. Mary’s Parochial School in Grand Island where she worked for Kauffmans Department Store and Wolbachs.

On July 4, 1919, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Harold W. Desch, Sr., at Sterling, Colorado. They lived in Central City, and in July of 1935, they moved to York, and opened the branch office of Wm Desch and Sons Monument Company. Mr. Desch preceded her in death on June 17, 1956. In 1960, she made her home in Leisure World at Seal Beach, California, where she has since resided.

She was an active and faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York, belonged to the Altar Society, and was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother John Strand, and a granddaughter, Kathleen Estabrook.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, William “Bill” Desch, Jr., of Sun City Arizona, her daughter Zoe Rita Desch-Smith of Rossmoor, California; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
