Albert Dieckmann

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 28, 1996 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Albert Dieckmann

Albert Arthur Dieckmann, the son of Fred and Frieda (Elitz) Dieckmann, was born near Marquette, Nebraska, on November 6, 1910, and died at Harvard, Nebraska, on May 23, 1996, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 17 days.

He grew up near Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School with the class of 1928.

In 1934, he married Thelma Paulus, and one sone was born to them. She preceded him in death in 1935.

On October 21, 1942, he was united in marriage to Ruby Pickinpaugh, at Aurora. They farmed in the Giltner and Aurora areas, until 1975, when they retired and moved to Aurora. After moving to Aurora, he was employed by the Aurora Co-op Elevator, the county weed district, and the city parks department.

Albert served his country during World War 2, serving from October 22, 1942, until his discharge on October 3, 1945. He served in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines, and was awarded several medals including the bronze star.

He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, was a member of the Aurora American Legion, had been a member of the Aurora Lions Club, was assessor for several years in Union and Aurora precincts, and had served on the Giltner School Board for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, 4 brothers, Frederick, Max, Elmer, and Clarence, and one son LaRue

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Ruby of Aurora; 3 sons, David of Douglas, Wyoming, Arthur of Lincoln, and Robert of Aurora; one daughter Dianne Nickolaus of South Sioux City; 2 sisters Margie Dieckmann and Florence Pickinpaugh, both of Aurora; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
