Steve Dorsey
Steve Dorsey, age 43, of Aurora, died Friday, April 8, 2005, near Marquette. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 15th at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Rev. James Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Church. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: STEVE DORSEY Stephen (Steve) Dorsey, Sr., was born May 31, 1961 at York, Nebraska to Mildred (Campbell) and Darell Dorsey. Steve, age 43, died Friday, April 8, 2005 near Marquette. Steve attended Benedict Grade school and moved at the age of ten to Fontana, California where he continued his education. After high school, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Steve served his country from May 1979 - October 1984. On July 14, 1984, Steve was united in marriage to Robertta Williams at Fontana, California. To this union they were blessed with two children, Crystal, and Steve Jr. joining their step-daughter, Cindy Woods. In 1988, Steve and his family moved to Aurora, Nebraska where Steve was employed at Arjo Manufacturing and then for the Aurora Public Schools as a custodian and bus driver. Steve was a member of the First Christian Church, where he served as deacon and on various committees. He was a mentor to two youth in the Teammates Mentoring Program. Steve loved Atlanta Braves Baseball, playing golf, working on computers and spoiling his grandson, Christopher. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Shawn Dorsey. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Robertta of Aurora; three children, Crystal of Aurora and Stephen, Jr. of Aurora and Cindy (Mike) Weinrich of Central City; grandson, Christopher; four sisters, Linda (Jim) Ptacnik of Aurora, Helen (Paul) Couwlier of Waterford, Michigan, Barbara (Tom) Harty of Redlands, California and twin sister, Stephanie (Marty) Auman of Aurora; two brothers, Donald (Diane) Dorsey of Lemoyne, Nebraska and Michael (Lola) Dorsey of Blue Earth, Minnesota; half-sister Beth (Todd) Cannon of Overland Park, KS; in-laws, James and Edna Samples of Marquette and many nieces, nephews and friends. |
