Arthur Dose
Arthur Dose, age 92, of Hampton died Saturday morning, November 2, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 5th at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. George Damm will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: ARTHUR DOSE Arthur C. Dose, the son of Carl and Alvina (Dethloff) Dose, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on January 14, 1910 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 2, 2002, at the age of 92. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He was an 8th grade graduate of Zion Parochial School. On April 3, 1934, he was united in marriage to Sophie L. Smith at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Polk. They lived on a farm north of Hampton. In 1934, he went into partnership with his father, feeding 50 head of cattle. He was currently in partnership with his son, Don and grandson, Dale. In 1971, they moved into Hampton, where Art spent the majority of time attending cattle auctions, this passion started at the time he went into business with his father. Sophie passed away on December 31, 1998. Art moved to Memorial Community Care in July 2000. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at Hampton. Art served as a director of Pinnacle Bank and Memorial Hospital in Aurora. In 1972, he received the Hamilton County Livestock Producers Award presented by the Hamilton County Livestock Feeders Association. In 1975, he was honored by the Omaha Livestock Exchange as a pioneer in cattle feeding for 50 years of shipping cattle to Omaha. Art was the 2000 Agricultural Award winner presented by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Luella Brahmsteadt; one brother, Harlan Dose; two sisters, Alice Kohtz and Irene Medow and one grandson. Those who remain to cherish her memory are his son Don and his wife Joyce of Hampton; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Alma (Mrs. Clarence) Heiden of Hampton and many nieces and nephews. |
