Harlan Dose

Harlan E. Dose, age 79, of Hampton died Tuesday, August 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Hampton. The Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

OBITUARY: HARLAN DOSE

Harlan Edgar Dose, the son of Carl and Alvina (Dethloff) Dose, was born on the family farm 10 miles northeast of Hampton on April 18, 1920 and died at Aurora, Nebraska on August 3, 1999, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 16 days.

He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He was an 8th grade graduate of Zion Parochial School and graduated from Polk High School in 1938.

On April 18, 1941, he was united in marriage to Gretchen Rein at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Riverton, Wyoming. They lived their entire life in the Hampton area, farming and feeding cattle, nine miles northeast of Hampton and later moved into Hampton. They had two children, James and Robert. Gretchen died on February 26, 1981.

Harlan married Myrtle Hurley on June 12, 1982 at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Myrtle passed away on September 28, 1992.

Harlan was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, having held most of the offices; board member of Hampton Co-op Elevator; member of Livestock feeders and board of director of First National Bank, Marquette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives and one sister, Alice Kohtz.

He is survived by his two sons, James and his wife Carolyn of Hampton, Robert and his wife Linda of Hampton; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur of Hampton; and two sisters, Irene Medow of Riverton, Wyoming and Alma (Mrs. Clarence) Heiden of Hampton and many nephews and nieces.
