Myrtle DoseFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 30, 1992 at the Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery. OBITUARY: Myrtle “Boots” Dose Myrtle Rose “Boots” Dose, the daughter of Silas and Edith McCormick McKinney, was born at Desoto, Illinois on August 30, 1926, and died at Hastings, Nebraska on September 28, 1992, at the age of 66 years and 28 days, following a bout with cancer. She grew up and attended school at Desoto, Illinois. On September 22, 1944, she was united in marriage to William Hurley at Hurst, Illinois. They lived at various places due to his teaching profession, including Nebraska, Illinois and Colorado, and in 1971, they moved to Hampton. Mr. Hurley died March 10, 1972. On June 12, 1982, she married Harlan Dose at the Hampton United Lutheran Church. “Boots” worked at the Unite Co-op in Hampton for 17 years. She was baptized in the Church of Christ in 1939 at Reed Station, Illinois, and was confirmed in the Hampton United Lutheran Church, and after her marriage she transferred her membership to the Zion Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the 8 & 40. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William, and one sister Ruby Irene Van Patter Taylor. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Harlan of Hampton; 2 sons, Charles “Kip” Hurley of Highland Ranch, Colorado, and Mark Hurley of Omaha; 2 step-sons, Bob and Jim Dose of Hampton; 3 daughters Cinda Guy of Davenport, Iowa, Linda Nelsen of LaVista, and Brenda Knapp of Hastings. 2 brothers, Marion McKinney and Owen Thomas McKinney; 2 sisters Martha Doris Barrass and Mary Alice Woolridge, all of Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. |
