Irene Draper

Irene Draper, age 88, of Aurora, formerly of Lexington, died Monday afternoon, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral Services were held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, afternoon at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rev. Jay Mitchell officiated. Interment was held in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Irene Draper

Anna Irene Draper, the daughter of John and Anna (Stock) Garner, was born at Loup City, Nebraska, on April 24, 1908, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on May 6, 1996, at the age of 88 years, and 12 days.

She grew up in the sand hills area, and graduated from Taylor High School.

On July 3, 1926, she was united in marriage to Charles Draper, at Taylor, Nebraska. Most of their married life was spent in Lexington, Nebraska. Charles preceded her in death on April 23, 1983. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Aurora, Nebraska, to be near her family, and for the past 5 years, she has resided at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Irene was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed being with her family, and was especially fond of her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Opal Anderson, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, Donald of Othello, Washington; 2 daughters, Mary “Katie” Sloan of Fremont, and Patricia “Pat” Baker of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, a sister Marie Engler of Holdrege; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
