Ethel Dunham

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 8, 1986 at the Giltner United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Ethel Dunham

Ethel May Dunham, the daughter of Lemual and Nora (Wilson) Mendenhall, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 20, 1901, and passed away at Hastings, Nebraska, on July 5, 1986, at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 15 days.

She grew up in the Aurora and Stockham areas where she attended country schools.

On June 7, 1919, she was united in marriage to Alonzo Dunham at Stockham.

They farmed south of Aurora until 1935, when they moved to Hastings, residing there until 1943, when they moved to a farm south of Aurora. In 1949, they moved to a farm near Giltner. In 1956 they became part owners of the Giltner Hardware, until Mr. Dunham’s death on December 14, 1963.

Ethel was a member of the Lysinger Church southeast of Aurora, where she was involved in ladies aid and church clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Garold; one grandson; 2 sisters, Bea Grigsby and Maggie Tucker, and 2 brothers, Wayne and Sammy Mendenhall.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are 2 sons, Lyle Dunham of Hastings and Keith Dunham of Antioch, California; one daughter, Lillian Hagemeister of York; 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
