Lloyd EatonLLOYD WAYNE EATON A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 8th at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Rev. Marta Wheeler will officiate. Inurnment will be held in the Phillips Cemetery. No Visitation. Lloyd W. Eaton died of complications of congestive heart failure and an infection and died peacefully in the late evening of March 11, 2008 at Unity Hospital, Fridley Minnesota. He was born to Ralph and Clarice (England) Eaton June 21, 1919. He was raised on a farm near Phillips, Nebraska with a brother Norris and a sister Laura. He attended elementary and high school at Phillips and enjoyed sports, especially basketball in which he was a participant. He married Shirley Berggren of rural Aurora and had three children: Lynn, David and Laura. The family farm was located in rural Phillips and Lloyd was actively farming until 1977. In 1979 he relocated to East Grand Forks, Minnesota and was employed as a custodian at Sacred Heart School. He also kept his hand in farming, helping out a local farming enterprise during harvest and other peak operations. Lloyd met Dorothy Walter of Grand Forks, North Dakota and they were married in August of 1981. Dorothy had three sons of her own: Douglas, Paul, and Don. Lloyd and Dorothy established residence in Grand Forks and continued living there until the flood of 1997 forced them into a decision to enter assisted living in the Crest View Lutheran Home in Columbia Heights, Minnesota a suburb of Minneapolis. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Norris and two of his step sons: Douglas and Don. Survivors include: his sister, Laura Margaret of West Virginia; his children: Lynn, David and Laura; his step son Paul; Lloyd’s grandchildren: Laura, Todd and Sarah Eaton (Lynn & Mary Eaton of Bemidji); Dana Eaton (David and Mary Eaton of Sacramento); Justin (Charles & Laura Eaton Focht of Lincoln, Nebraska); Don & Travis Walter (Paul and Lucinda Walter of Green Valley, Arizona; Laura And Lucas Walter (Cheryl Walter Neumann of Cavalier, North Dakota); Lloyd’s great grandchildren: Rachael & Kyle (Don and Kelly Walter of Anoka, Minnesota). Lloyd donated his body to research at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
