Merle Huebert Eggert, the son of Henry and Lizzie (Baker) Eggert, was born on January 7, 1892, in Hamilton County, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 2, 1988, at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 5 days.

On June 26, 1918, he married Mary Alta Bailey. They lived in Hansen where he was employed in banking. They later lived in several Nebraska towns before moving to Hamilton County in 1932, to farm. In 1949, they retired and moved to Aurora to make their home. Mrs. Eggert died February 22, 1985.

After retiring Mr. Eggert served as county treasurer for several terms and also one term as county clerk. He also clerked at the county sale barn and later prepared income taxes for the First National Bank in Aurora. He had made his home at Memorial Community Care Center since 1979.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents, wife; one brother Charles; one sister Minnie Viola Garrett, and one granddaughter Carol Sue Skinner.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are one son Robert of Newton, Pennsylvania; one daughter Mary Ellen Skinner of Aurora; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandsons.
