Marvin EmkenFuneral Services were held 11:00 A.M., Friday at the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Graveside Services were held 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 9, 1993 at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Marvin Emken Marvin E. Emken, 58, of 6204 Underwood Avenue S.W., died at his home Tuesday, August 3, 1993, after a short illness. Survivors include his wife, Waunita; a daughter, Debra Hill of Marshalltown; a son, Steven of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Esther Emken of Aurora, Nebraska; four brothers, Gary of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Ron of Grand Island, Nebraska, Alan of Kearney, Nebraska and David of Aurora, Nebraska; four sisters, Dorothy Minton of Tampa, Florida, Marilyn Lantzer of Omaha, Nebraska, Pat Echelberger of Longmont, Colorado and Vicki Emken of Boulder, Colorado. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Ray Hill of Marshalltown; two grandsons, Ryan and Ross Emken; two granddaughters Kinsey and Kaitlyn Hill. Marvin was born June 11, 1935 in Aurora, Nebraska and was married to Waunita Sawyer on January 12, 1957 in Marquette, Nebraska. He was employed as the Installation Support Manager for Rockwell International. He had retired in 1974 after 21 years with the United States Air Force. Mr. Emken was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, President of the Midwest Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Association, a member of the Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association of Marshalltown, the Allis Chalmer Group and served on the Steering Committee for Ushers Ferry. He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. |
