Gladys Enderle

Memorial Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 4, 1998 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Inurnment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: “Betty” Enderle

Gladys Marie Enderle, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Vierk) Riedy, was born at St. Michael, Nebraska, on July 3, 1921, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 1, 1998, at the age of 77 years, and 29 days.

She grew up and attended country school near St. Michael, and graduated from Cairo High School in 1938. Following graduation she lived in Seattle, Washington, for a time, and then returned to work at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant in Grand Island, during World War II.

While working in Grand Island, she met Rodney Enderle, and they were united in marriage on August 30, 1945, at Loredo, Texas, where he was stationed in the Army/Air Force. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1974.

Following his discharge they returned to Aurora, where they farmed. After his death she moved into Aurora, where she has since resided. She was co-owner of an antique shop for a short time.

“Betty” was a member of the Aurora First Evangelical Lutheran Church, and belonged to the ladies aid. She also enjoyed bowling, and her grandchildren were very special to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Michael, and one daughter Rebecca, and a brother Harold Riedy.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Patricia Miller and her husband John, and Beverly Enderle, all of Aurora; one sister Erma Thagard of Grand Island; 3 grandchildren, Sara May and her husband David, and Joel and Wade Miller.
