Lucinda (Peter) Epp

Lucinda Epp, age 91, of Hampton died Saturday morning, December 21, 2002, at Memorial Long Term Care in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. George Damm will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: Lucinda (Peter) Epp

Lucinda Epp, the daughter of Leon J. and Cora (Fehr) Peter, was born in Sutton, Nebraska on May 13, 1911 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 21, 2002, at the age of 91 years.

She grew up in rural Sutton where she attended School District #66 and did housekeeping for families when they had new babies.

Lucinda was united in marriage to Henry H. Epp on October 25, 1931, at her parent’s home in Sutton. They lived on a farm near Henderson after their marriage. In 1935 they moved to the Epp family farm by Henderson. They later moved into Henderson where they sold Watkins products. In 1942 they moved to Hampton where they continued their Watkins business. Lucinda was a telephone operator, cleaned cafes and the church. Henry died February 2, 1978. Lucinda moved to Memorial Community Care in 1993 where she remained until her death.

Lucinda was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was active in St. Peter Ladies Aid, St. Peter LWML, Lutherans for Life, Weekly Bible Study, American Legion Auxiliary 141, and Pause Awhile Club. She loved to bake, cook, and prepare holiday dinners for her family. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and she liked to play cards. Lucinda enjoyed her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Epp, her parents, 2 brothers, 5 sisters, and 3 great-grandsons.

Lucinda is survived by her sons, Rodney D. (Belle) Epp of Augusta, Kansas; Elroy D. (Barbara) Epp of Maryville, Missouri; her daughters, Eloris L. Nuss of Aurora; Cora Lee Ashbaugh and Lee Ann McGregor of York; 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
