Nellie Enderle Eskildsen

Nellie Enderle Eskildsen, age 99, formerly of Hampton, died Wednesday afternoon, August 4, 2004, at Bryan/LGH East in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 7th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Interment will be in Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Tabitha Village in Lincoln. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: NELLIE ENDERLE ESKILDSEN

Nellie Olivia Enderle Eskildsen, the daughter of Charles Jonas and Emma Sophia (Johnson) Johnson, was born in Stromsburg, Nebraska on August 13, 1904 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 4, 2004, at the age of 99.

She grew up in Stromsburg and then in York County. Nellie attended country schools through the 8th grade.

Nellie was united in marriage to Edward H. Enderle on August 29, 1924 at Belleville, Kansas. They moved to Hampton. There were three children born to this union: Dwight, Phyllis and Gerald. Edward passed away on March 13, 1961. Nellie was a telephone operator in Hampton and was the manager for the last year there.

Nellie was married to Mark Eskildsen on January 17, 1962. They were members of the Centennial Band, now called the Hamilton County Concert Band. Mark passed away on September 4, 1977.

She was a charter member of the OES Alice Chapter #313 of Hampton and a past Worthy Matron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; a son, Gerald Enderle, four brothers, Lloyd, Ivan, Grant and Floyd Johnson and five sisters, Esther Francisco, Mollie DeLand, Elsie Wagoner, Effie Johnson Pierson and an infant sister.

Those left to cherish her memory are son, Dwight (Kay) Enderle of Lincoln; daughter, Phyllis (Alvin) Enderle Zach of Lincoln; step-daughter, Margaret Strop of San Diego, California; 7 grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Ruby Johnson Kemper of Hermann, Missouri.
