Dorothea FaberFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 20, 1996, at Hampton United Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery. OBITUARY: Dorothea Faber Dorothea May Faber, the daughter of William and Alverda (Orvis) Redhead, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on October 2, 1902, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on May 17, 1996, at the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 15 days. She grew up and received her education in Aurora. On May 21, 1923, she was united in marriage to John Faber at York. After her marriage she was employed at the Hampton Post Office, and later attended Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley, Colorado, and taught country school north of Hampton. They resided in Hampton all their married life, until 1987, when they moved to the Nebraska Veteran’s home in Grand Island. John preceded her in death on November 5, 1992. Dorothea was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hampton, and later the Hampton United Lutheran Church, where she served as choir leader, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for a number of years. She was a charter member of the 40 & 8 in Grand Island, a charter member of the Hampton Eastern Star and was a 50 year member. She also served as a 4-H leader from 1930 to 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Jacquelyn, one brother Vernon Redhead, and a sister Frances Southard. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter Shirley Larsen and her husband Laurel, of Hampton; one sister Idabell Tibbs of Little Rock, Arkansas; 2 grand daughters, Marcia Fick of Ashland, and Marla Ortegren of Hordville; 6 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. |
