Alma Faugerstrom

Funeral Services were held 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 31, 1984 at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church. Interment was held in the Monroe Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Alma Faugerstrom

Alma C. Faugerstrom, Deerfield, Illinois, was born to Swedish immigrant parents, Anders Gustaf and Ellen Lindstrom, in Sumner, Nebraska, on May 28, 1903. She attended Business College in Omaha and the Free Church Academy in Chicago, Illinois, where she completed her high school studies.

She was married to the Rev. Harry A. Faugerstrom of Phillips, Nebraska on August 31, 1929. They had one son, Morris. She assisted her husband who pastored Evangelical Free Churches in Kiron, Arthur and Odeboldt, Iowa and Melvin, Texas. He was the Midwest District Superintendent of Evangelical Free Churches in Nebraska and Kansas form 1943 until his death in September of 1955.

Following her husband’s death, Alma moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed as Head of Admissions at Swedish Covenant Hospital for 7 years and as a child care specialist until 79 years of age. Her health began to fail in early 1982. Major surgeries in the summer of 1982 and 1983 continued further to her physical decline.

She passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 26, 1984 at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 29 days. She is survived by her son, Morris, daughter-in-law, Beverly, three granddaughters, Brenda (Mrs. Lance Haseltine), Andrea and Marcia and one sister and three brothers.
