Emma FensterEmma Fenster, age 96, of Aurora died Friday, September 10, 1999, at Memorial Community Care at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. The Rev. George E. Damm will officiate. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M., Sunday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: EMMA FENSTER Emma Fenster, the daughter of Christian and Catherine (Bamesberger) Wall, was born in Indianola, Nebraska on April 15, 1903 and died at Aurora, Nebraska on September 10, 1999, at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 17 days. She grew up and started school in Red Willow County and then moved with her parents to Hampton, Nebraska where she attended parochial grade school at St. Peter’s and attended Hampton High School. Emma worked as a housemother for families in York and Lincoln. On April 18, 1925, she was united in marriage to Walter Fenster at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hampton. They lived on farms in York and Hamilton Counties, before moving to Walter’s parents farm in 1944. Emma moved to Hampton to live with her mother when Walter died in 1959. Several years later she moved to Aurora to manage Ken’s Motel until her retirement in 1968. Emma moved back to Hampton after her retirement, only to move back to Aurora in 1990. Emma was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and the Neighborhood Sewing Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Harp) Fenster; four brothers, Edwin, Herman, William and Walter and two sisters; Lena and Clara. She is survived by her two sons, Rolland and his wife Sue of Lincoln, Lowell and his wife Willa of North Platte; grandchildren, Sally and Roger Smith of Palmyra, William and Michael Fenster of Lincoln, Steven and Nyla Fenster of Lincoln, Robert and Stephanie Fenster of Omaha; step-granddaughter Dana Howell of North Platte; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Hayden and Marshall; two brothers, Raymond Wall of North Platte and Carl Wall of Hemut, California; three sisters, Gertrude Miller of Hampton, Dorothy Fenster of Broken Bow and Velma Sullivan of McLean, Virginia; sister-in-law, Mildred Wall of Aurora and numerous nieces and nephews. |
