OBITUARY: Blanche Fitz

Blanche E. Fitz, the daughter of William and Eliza Helen (Laughlin) Lemon, was born at Princeton, Missouri, on February 14, 1903, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 15, 1995, at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 1 day.

She grew up near Princeton, graduated from Lineville, Iowa, high school, and was a pre-med student at the University of Kansas at Lawrence.

On November 26, 1930, she was united in marriage to Verl David Fitz. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1961. After their marriage they lived near Stuart, Iowa, and in 1932, they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they lived until 1957. When her husband became disabled she attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received he teaching degree. She then taught elementary school in Kimball and later in Polk, until she retired in May of 1966. She moved to Aurora in the late ‘60’s and resided at Crossroads Court. She entered the Hamilton Manor in Aurora in 1990.

Blanche was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and as a young woman she became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and later joined the Polk Chapter, where she was still a member, and had served as Worthy Matron.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, David of Cedar Park, Texas, and Donald of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
