Floramae Gaard

Floramae Gaard, age 63, of Aurora, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 31st at the Evangelical Covenant Church. Pastor Karl Larson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Nevada, Iowa. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: FLORAMAE GAARD

Floramae Gaard, the daughter of William Everett and Flora Mae (Wise) Post, was born in Nevada, Iowa on May 5, 1943 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 28, 2007, at the age of 63.

Floramae grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. She attended St. Luke’s Nursing School for a year in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Floramae was united in marriage to Kay Royden Gaard on February 9, 1963 at Vermillion, South Dakota. She worked for Davis Donnellan Lumber Yard in Nevada, Wilson Lumber Yard in Ames and the Armstrong Company. Kay passed away on March 1, 2005. Floramae moved to Aurora in September 2005, where she worked at Schneider’s Hardware.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, knitting and camping. Floramae had been a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Kate (Steve) Metzger of Grand Island and Jim (Debi) Gaard of Dibold, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Jordan Kay and Kaleigh Lynn Metzger and Alex and Braydon Gaard and brother, Claude William (Bev) Post.
