Hazel Garner
Hazel Garner, age 95, of Aurora, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the Hamilton Manor. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30P.M., Wednesday, May 19th at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Rev. Sam Fox will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: HAZEL GARNER Hazel Delores Garner was born on February 13, 1915 in Jewell, Kansas the only child of Dempster Sylvester and Elizabeth Hannah (Dieckmann) Littell. Her parents moved to a farm near Giltner, Nebraska where she graduated from Giltner High School in 1933. She worked several jobs following high school including nurses’ aide at the Aurora Hospital where she met her future husband. She married Dwain Aubrey Garner on March 17, 1945. Together they farmed near Marquette, Nebraska until her husband’s death in 1953. To this union one son was born, Dale Eugene Garner. Following her husband’s death she and her son moved to Aurora where she worked at the Aurora Creamery, Aurora Memorial Hospital and Hamilton Manor until her retirement in 1980. Hazel was a member of the First Christian Church, and enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, playing pitch, and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dale and daughter-in-law, Diane (Mort) Garner of Columbus; grandson, Joshua Garner of Omaha and granddaughter, Elizabeth Garner of Lincoln. |
