Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 7, 1993 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Robert Garris

Robert Joseph Garris, the son of Grant and Amelia (Beck) Garris, was born at Nebraska City, Nebraska, on November 5, 1928, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 4, 1993, at the age of 64 years, 7 months, and 29 days.

He grew up and attended St. Mary’s Academy in Nebraska City. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from July 26, 1946, to July 2, 1948, and after his discharge he returned to Nebraska City.

On September 6, 1948, he was united in marriage to Helen Schneider, at Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1953, they moved to Aurora, where Bob was plant manager for the Phillips Petroleum Company, for 31 years.

Bob was a member of the Aurora V.F.W., and his hobbies included wood working, horse racing, and furniture refinishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Dorothy Bryant.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Helen, of Aurora; one son Patrick of Aurora; 3 daughters, Jo Lynn Brown and her husband David of Lincoln, Kristy Wittler and her husband Neal of Hoskins, and Debbie Garris of Aurora; one brother John of Bolivar, Missouri; 3 sisters, Yvonne Berthold of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Verona Bolin of Bolivar, Missouri, and Juanita Miller of New Market, Virginia; his mother-in-law, Opal Billingsley of Nebraska City; 4 grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
