Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 1, 1996 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Emma Gaughen

Emma Olivian Gaughen, the daughte of Joseph and Pauline (Jajek) Cacha, was born at Howells, Nebraska, on June 4, 1931, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on October 29, 1996, at the age of 65 years, 4 months, and 25 days.

She grew up on a farm near Howells, attended school in Howells, and worked on the family farm.

On November 22, 1949, she was united in Holy Matrimony to J. LaVerne Gaughen, at Howells. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1996.

After their marriage they moved to Schuyler, where she was a telephone operator. In 1958 they moved to Aurora, where they have since resided.

Emma was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, and belonged to the church circle. She had been a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Leader. She also enjoyed crafts, bowling, fishing and spending time with her family at the cabin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, John and his wife Vereen of St. Paul, and Pat and his wife Karen of Hampton; 4 daughters, Cathi Gaughen of Central City, Colleen Clayton and her husband Jim of Central City, Jeanette Williams and her husband Craig of Aurora; and Chris Gaughen of Central City; 9 grandchildren, Bridget Butt and her husband Randy, John Gaughen Jr., Aaron Clayton, Chera Clayton, Jed Kruger, Ashley Williams, Alex Williams, Kendra Gaughen and Kayla Gaughen. Two great grandchildren, Zachary Butt and Lindsey Butt. Two brothers, Joseph Vacha and his wife Marie of Scribner, “Bud” and his wife Donna Vacha of Cedar Bluffs; 5 sisters, Pauline Vrbiciky and her husband Lambert of Clarkson, AnnaRitzdorf and her husband Edward of Howells, Elsie Emanuel and her husband Eugene of North Bend, Wilma Bolte of Cedar Bluffs, and Agnes Brabec and her husband Ervin of Clarkson, and many other relatives.
