Myrtle GormanFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 3, 1995 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Myrtle Gorman Myrtle Helen Gorman, the daughter of William and Susie (Lantzer) Marter, was born at Sargent, Nebraska, on May 4, 1909, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 30, 1995, at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 26 days. The family lived at Sargent a short time, then moved to Hamilton County, and later into Aurora, where she attended the public schools and graduated from Aurora High School in 1927. She taught school for one year in western Nebraska, and her health did not permit her to return for the second year. She was employed in York, Nebraska for a period of time and there she met her husband. On September 24, 1933, she was united in marriage to Rev. John Gorman, at Aurora. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1984. After their marriage, they moved to California for 18 months, then returned to Nebraska and made plans to enter full time Christian Ministry. They traveled throughout the United States for 25 years in Evangelistic Services working with her husband, preaching, doing children’s work, and working in Bible Camps. In 1966, she was ordained in the United Methodist Church at the north east Ohio Conference. She pastored a United Methodist Church in McConnelsville, Ohio. She also assisted her husband in several pastorates in Sligo, Pennsylvania, Beverly, Ohio, Harison, Nebraska, and Pleasanton-Ravenna Zion Church. In 1979, the Gormans retired and moved to Aurora. Myrtle was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 5 brothers, Howard, Lloyd, Ralph, Kenneth, and Ray Marler, and a sister Mildred. Those who remain to cherish her memory are a brother, Paul Marler of Douglas, Wyoming, and one sister Lucille Weedin of Aurora, a foster sister-in-law Altha Lundy of Kearney, and many nieces and nephews. |
