Daryl Granfield
Daryl Granfield, age 70, of Hampton, died Saturday night, February 28, 2004, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 2nd at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: DARYL GRANFIELD Daryl E. Granfield, the son of Roy ‘Bud’ and Doris (Pippitt) Granfield, was born in Hoskins, Nebraska on September 13, 1933 and died in Hampton, Nebraska on February 28, 2004, at the age of 70. He attended school in Carroll, where he lived until he entered the Service serving in the U.S.A.F. from 1950 through 1963. Daryl served in the Korean War, Saudi Arabia, Portsmouth, NH and Japan. During this time Daryl was united to Nancy Bermel on June 11, 1956 at Randolph, Nebraska. When Daryl returned home from the service he farmed in the Carroll area, then spent several years working and managing in the feed and grain business. Daryl perfected his cooking skills at the Granfield Café in Carroll. Daryl was united in marriage to Lucille Dilsaver in 1977 at Reno, Nevada. Daryl owned and operated Big Circle Irrigation in Aurora. Daryl and Lucille owned and managed Korner 9 Klub (K9K) until retirement in Hampton. Daryl was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4993 and the Hampton American Legion Post #141, where he was former Commander to both Posts. He was also a member of the Hampton Community Club, N.R.A., Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. Daryl enjoyed hunting, cooking and golfing with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dean (Leroy) Granfield and Dwayne Granfield. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Lucille of Hampton; nine children, Barb (Ed) Cobb of Benkleman, Sharon (Ed) North of O’Neill, Terry and LuAnn Granfield of Aurora, Tim (Jodie) Granfield of Aurora, Renee (Rich) Arnold of Aurora, Tom (Kristie) Granfield of Carroll and Ben (Molly) Dilsaver of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Delwyn (Jack) Granfield of Rancho Cordova, California and nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. |
