James Gray

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 21, 1995 at the Aurora Assembly of God Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: James Gray

James Duane Gray, the son of Orville and Velma (Newlun) Gray, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on October 27, 1945, and died at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 17, 1995, at the age of 49 years, 7 months, and 20 days.

He grew up and attended school in Aurora, and worked for the Douglas Meat Market while attending school.

In 1962, he moved to Longmont, Colorado, and lived there until he entered the Viet Nam War. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from April 6, 1964, until his discharge on February 2, 1968. He received his GED while serving in the military. Following his discharge he returned to Aurora and was employed as a custodian at the Aurora Public Schools for 16 years.

On July 11, 1970, he was united in marriage to Linda Pickenpaugh at Aurora. She preceded him in death on November 28, 1984.

Jim was a member of the Aurora Assembly of God Church, and belonged to the Third City Archers.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife, and grandmothers Jennie Newlun and Lydia Marr.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son Brian; a daughter Tonya Kelsch; a brother Phil and his wife Sue, a sister Kay Gallegos and her husband LeRoy; his mother Velma Gray and a grandson Lee Jay Kelsch, all of Aurora.
