OBITUARY: Velma Gray

Velma Gray, the daughter of Charles and “Jennie” (Moran) Newlun, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on February 19, 1920, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 9, 1998, at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 20 days.

On April 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Orville Gray at Grand Island, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1988.

They lived in Aurora until 1962, when they moved to Colorado. In 1965, they moved to Indiana, and in 1966, they moved back to Aurora. The past few months she has resided at the Memorial Community Care at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Velma was affiliated with the Aurora Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers Darold and Ernest Newlun, 3 sisters, Mildred Buchanan, Lavada Hannan, and Virginia Derr, and a son Jim.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son Phillip and his wife Sue, her daughter Kay Gallegos and her husband LeRoy, all of Aurora, a sister Naomi Shedd of San Pablo, California, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
