Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 22, 1992 at the Aurora Christian Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Doris Gressley

Doris Violet Gressley, the daughter of Jacob Frank and Fannie Bell (Russell) Gressley, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 13, 1910, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 10, 1992, at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 27 days.

She attended rural school near her parent’s home and graduated from Aurora High School in 1928. In August of 1927, she took training as a beauty operator, and operated her own shop in Aurora, known as the Powder Puff Beauty Salon. Later she worked in her sister’s shop in Columbus from 1946 to 1953. In 1953, she attended Lincoln School of Commerce and studied secretarial work and bookkeeping. From 1960 to 1962 she worked for Roper’s Mortuary in Lincoln as a secretary and hairdresser. From 1962 to 1964,j she was the owner of Doris’ Beauty Manor in Lincoln. She also took several Civil Service Exams, however, because of caring for her mother she had to turn down employment. She has resided at the Bethesda Care Center in Aurora for past several years.

Doris was baptized in the First Christian Church in Aurora, and was a longtime faithful member of the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Mertin, Russell, Elmer, and one in infancy, and one sister Pearle Curtiss.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.
