Bernice Griess
Bernice Griess, age 72, of Aurora, died Tuesday, June15, 2004, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 18th at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. Rev. Monty Nelson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: BERNICE GRIESS Bernice A. Griess, the daughter of George Edward and Josephine Elizabeth (Franzen) Sweem, was born in Exeter, Nebraska on March 25, 1932 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on June 15, 2004, at the age of 72. She grew up with her family in Exeter, where she attended school. On December 9, 1948 she was united in marriage to Gerhardt 'Gary' Griess in Geneva, Nebraska. They farmed for three years before Gary served in the Korean War. Following his return from the service, they moved to a farm south of Aurora and in 1968 they bought a farm north of town. They retired from farming in 1989, and she continued to live on the farm until 2002. Bernice was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her husband and enjoyed all the travelling that they did. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Dorothy Link and brother George Sweem, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Tina Clancy of Hastings and several nieces, nephews and cousins. |
