Vernon GrimVernon “Snooks” Grim, age 90, of Phillips died Wednesday afternoon, December 15, 1999, at the Memorial Long Term Care in Aurora. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday at Higby Mortuary Chapel in Aurora. Rev. James Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M., Sunday at Higby Mortuary. OBITUARY: VERNON GRIM Vernon Wayne Grim, the son of Leslie and Edna (Irish) Grim, was born in Phillips, Nebraska on June 3, 1909 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 15, 1999, at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 12 days. He grew up in Phillips attended country school. Vernon was united in marriage to Lorraine Muse on September 17, 1939. They moved to California in the early 40’s, where he worked for Mare Island Shipyard. They moved back to Phillips in 1944 and resumed farming. He farmed all his life. After retiring from farming, he owned and operated the Snack Shack in Wood River from 1972 to 1978. Lorraine passed away in January 1991. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Maizie Wright and two brothers, Leonard and Manley. Survivors include his son, Dan Grim of Phillips; daughter, LaVonne Manka of Omaha; 4 grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren. |
