Arthur GrosshansFuneral Services were held 2:30 P.M., Friday, January 31, 1992 at the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Arthur Grosshans Arthur W. Grosshans, the son of August and Margaret (Griess) Grosshans, was born at Sutton, Nebraska, on May 8, 1905, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 28, 1992, at the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 20 days. He grew up in Stockham, and attended the Stockham School, graduating with the class of 1923. After graduation, the joined the family business, and he owned and managed Grosshans Sales & Service for 51 years, in Stockham and Aurora. On May 6, 1926, he was united in marriage to Gweneth Carnes at Stockham. They had observed their 65th wedding anniversary. Art was a faithful member of the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ, and was a longtime member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge, and belonged to the Tehama Temple and Royal Order of Jesters. He was also a member of the Aurora Lions Club, and had received his 45 year pin. He was past vice-president of the Nebraska Impliment Dealer’s Association, and was country chairman for CROP for many years. He was also active in the Plainsman Museum. He was a charter member of the Aurora Industrial Development Corporation, was an advisory member of the Milford Trade School Board of Directors, longtime member of the Nebraska New Car & Truck Dealers for over 50 years, past member of the Aurora School Board, member of the University of Nebraska Touchdown Club, and charter member of the Husker Power Club, and the oldest retired fireman in Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Victor, one granddaughter, Barbara Barnell Manley, and one great granddaughter, Courtney Nichole Munson. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Gweneth of Aurora; one son Richard; 2 daughters, Shirley Barnell and Gwen Allen, all of Aurora; one brother Lewis of Beatrice; 6 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. |
