Gene D. Guilford

Gene D. Guilford, age 71, of Hampton died Sunday morning, April 13, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 16th at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. George E. Damm will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: GENE D. GUILFORD

Gene D. Guilford, the son of Ray M. and Corda (Dixon) Guilford, was born at Marquette, Nebraska on January 17, 1932 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 13, 2003, at the age of 71.

He received his education in the grade schools and high school in Marquette. Gene served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954.

On May 24, 1951 Gene was united in marriage to Mary Ann Larson in Marquette. After he completed his military service, they made their home in Elmwood, Nebraska where he began his working career serving as General Manager of the Co-op elevators at Elmwood, Fairbury and Jansen, until he retired in 1992.

He served 18 years as a director, in addition to serving twice as President of the Nebraska Grain and Feed Assoc. at Lincoln in 1972 and 1988. He also served as a director with the FAR-MAR CO Inc. of Hutchinson, KS, the Fairbury Country Club, Jefferson Memorial Hospital of Fairbury and the State Bank of Jansen. He was a member of the City Council and Volunteer Fire Dept. of Jansen and 49 years with the American Legion; having served as Commander of Post 247 of Elmwood and Post 358 of Jansen. Gene was appointed to the Branch Rail Council of Nebraska by Governor Charles Thone and also served on the advisory board of the Nebraska Public Service Commission.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne Huston and Merlin Guilford;one sister, Bonnie Newman Miller and one grandson, Christopher Junker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary Ann of Hampton; daughters, Debra Molthan and Michale Junker of Lincoln; Kimberly Bretting and her husband Neal of Loveland, Colorado; three grandchildren, Andrew, Jesse and Chelsea and one brother, Murry Guilford of Hilltop Lakes, Texas.
