Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 4, 1999 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Vancil Guilford

Vancil W. Guilford, the son of Bert and Dora (McClay) Guilforrd, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, on April 5, 1919, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on December 30, 1998, at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 25 days.

He grew up in Hamilton County, where he attended country school, and Aurora High School. He farmed with his father, and also on his own.

He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, from September 11, 1942, until his discharge on May 21, 1943. Following his discharge he returned to Hamilton County and was engaged in farming. In 1970, he moved to Grand Island and was employed by the Chicago Lumber Company as a truck driver, until he retired in 1982.

“Vance” was a member of the Grand Island Eagles, the I.O.O.F. and the Rebecahs.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Alberta Heintz and Maxine Stenson, both of Aurora, and nieces and nephews.
