Ellen Gustafson

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 28, 1984 at Monroe Evangelical Free Church. Interment was held in the Monroe Evangelical Free Church Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Ellen E. Gustafson

Ellen E. Gustafson, the daughter of Carl and Anna Lager Elge, was born near Essex, Iowa, on July 8, 1906. Her death occurred at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 26, 1984, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 18 days.

In 1919 she came with her family to Hamilton County. She received her education in the rural schools of Essex, Iowa and Hamilton County, and graduated from Aurora High School in 1926. Following her graduation she taught in the rural school system in Hamilton County. Later she was employed at the University Hospital in Omaha for several years.

On May 2, 1942 she was united in marriage to Victor Gustafson at Aurora. They farmed in Monroe Precinct.

Mrs. Gustafson was affiliated with the Monroe Evangelical Free Church, where she was confirmed in 1921. She was active in church affairs and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also active in Womens’ groups of the church. She was an active member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Aurora and had served as Pink Lady at the hospital for many years. She was a member of the Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association.

Her parents had preceded her in death.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Victor; one brother Elton Elge of Aurora; one sister Mrs. Lillian Tollander of Omaha; several nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews and other relatives and many close friends.
