Harald Gustafson

Harald Gustafson, age 85, of Aurora, died Tuesday night, January 28, 2003, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 31st at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora. Pastor Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Evangelical Covenant Church. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: HARALD GUSTAFSON

Harald Nathanael Gustafson, the son of Harald W. (Wally) and Anna (Landerholm) Gustafson, was born in Loup City, Nebraska on March 27, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on January 28, 2003, at the age of 85.

He moved to Hamilton County as an infant and grew up on a farm northwest of Aurora. Harald attended country school District #47. He stayed with his aunts, Ellen and Olga Gustafson while attending high school. Harald graduated from Aurora High School in 1937.

Harald was united in marriage to Amy Peterson on March 27, 1941 at her parent's home. He farmed until 1969 when they moved into Aurora and he went to work at Palmberg Auto Supply as a parts man. After retiring from Palmberg's, he worked for E. W. Auto Supply part-time. They moved to Memorial Community Care in 1998.

Harald was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, where he was helping with the covenant tape ministry up to the time of his death. He was an active member of Monroe Evangelical Free Church until 1970. He delivered Meals on Wheels and did errands for many elderly people. Harald performed many general fix-it and repair jobs in homes. He enjoyed his woodworking. He made crafts, assembled doll houses and creating unique items. Harald did furniture refinishing with Ed Woch. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Amy of Aurora; two daughters, Judy Lott and John Rossmeier of Leigh and Arlene Gimpel and her husband Garry of Aurora; 4 grandchildren, James Lott and his wife Jamie of Ogallala, Linda Mitchell and her husband Mark of Lincoln, Todd Gimpel of Aurora and Sarah Gimpel of Lincoln; 4 great-grandsons, Michael and Shae Lott of Ogallala and Skyelar and Sage Mitchell of Lincoln.
