Philip Gustafson

Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 12, 1990 at the Aurora Evangelical Free Church. Interment was held in the West Monroe Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Philip Gustafson

Philip Ruel Gustafson, the son of Carl Joseph and Esther (Newquist) Gustafson, was born at Phillips, Nebraska, on January 29, 1925, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on October 9, 1990, at the age of 65 years, 8 months, and 10 days. He has suffered with cancer for about 5 years.

He grew up in the Phillips area and graduated from Phillips High School. He served his country in World War II in the United States Navy from January 19, 1945, to November 27, 1945. After his discharge he graduated from the University of Nebraska, and then farmed for a time. He then attended Trinity College at Chicago for 2 years preparing for Missionary work.

On June 27, 1953, he was united in marriage to June Lila Carlson at East Chain, Minnesota. After their marriage they went to Belgium for one year. He then served as a missionary in Zaire, Africa for 5 years, and then returned to Aurora for a short time, then went to Griffin, Georgia and worked at Imperial Homes with his brother. Then he went to Chicago Trinity College and Evangelical Divinity School, serving as Vice-President for Administration. In 1970, he returned to Aurora and joined his brother Mike in the Anderson-Gustafson Real Estate Company as a partner.

Phil was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Free Church, had been in Kiwanis, and had been a member of the Aurora Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wesley, and infant brother and sister, and one son Rick.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife June of Aurora; 2 sons, Ronald and Randy of Lincoln; 3 brothers, Milton of Griffin, Georgia, Keith of Phillips, and Mike of Aurora; one sister, Eldora Nyberg of Moline, Illinois and 2 grandchildren.
