Jack HadleyFuneral Services were held 3:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 1989 at the Old High School Gymnasium. Interment was held in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. OBITUARY: Dr. Jack Hadley Dr. John Warren Hadley, the son of Clair H. and Hazel (Nelson) Hadley, was born at Paonia, Colorado, on July 31, 1928, and passed away at Phoenix, Arizona, on January 28, 1989, at the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 27 days. He graduated from Paonia High School in 1946, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. On September 26, 1947, he was married to Glenna “Totsy” Scott, at Kent, Washington. He attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, graduating in veterinary medicine in 1954. After graduation, he and Dr. Phil Wiltfong purchased the Aurora Veterinary practice. He practiced in Aurora for 27 years, until January 1, 1981, when he retired to work as a field specialist for Norden Laboratories in Lincoln. He became an assistant manager, veterinary services in 1984; manager of customer relations in 1986; and was appointed director, veterinary services for Norden in 1987. Dr. Hadley was active in civic and community affairs. He was a member of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce; Aurora Board of Education for 18 years, 12 years as president; president of the Aurora Country Club in 1966; and winner of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce Map-Maker Award in 1968 and Public Service Award in 1978. Dr. Hadley was a member of the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners and the American Society of Theriogenology. He was president of the NVMA in 1968 and was chairman and member of the NVMA Legislative Committee during the Legislative session enacting the veterinary practice act for Nebraska. He was a member of the NVMA Livestock Industry and UNL Liaison Committee that was instrumental in the development of the UNL Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in 1973. He was awarded the NVMA’s highest award in 1973 as Veterinarian of the year. He was an alternate to the AVMA from 1972 to 1976. From 1977 through 1981, he was the Nebraska delegate to the AVMA House of Representatives. He was preceded in death by his father Clair H. Hadley and an infant daughter, Sheri Kay. He is survived by his wife Totsy; 3 sons, Scott of Gibson, Louisiana, John of North Brunswick, New Jersey and Terry of Lincoln; one daughter Tracy Hadley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 2 brothers, Clair J. of Salt Lake City, Utah and Robert of Redding, California; his mother, Hazel Hadley of Grand Junction, Colorado, and 3 grandchildren. |
