Roger Hahn

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 17, 1998 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Rodger D. Hahn

Rodger D. Hahn, the son of Leo and Meta (Baack) Hahn, was born at Polk, Nebraska, on March 10, 1927, and died at his home in Hampton, Nebraska, on August 14, 1998 at the age of 71 years, 5 months, and 4 days.

Rodger grew up in the Hampton area, where he was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Hampton High School, and was a member of the 1945 state basketball championship team. He was drafted into the U.S. Army following graduation, and served in Greenland. After his discharge he became manager of the Farmers Co-op Gas and Oil Company.

Rodger was united in marriage to Pollie Jorth on June 20, 1953 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa. They lived in Hampton where he continued to serve as manager of the Farmers Co-op Gas and Oil Company for 33 years. After his retirement in 1983, he was employed part time at Husker Co-op in Osceola, and Great Plains Meter Company in Aurora.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and served in many offices, and was a member of American Legion Post #141 in Hampton. He was secretary of the Hampton Rural Fire District Board at the time of his death, and had served as Hampton Fire Chief. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and gardening.

Those who preceded him in death are his parents, and one brother Dwight.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Pollie, 3 sons, Brian and his wife Devrie of Cuero, Texas; Michael and his wife Linda of Omaha, and Andrew of David City; one daughter, Patrice Brost and her husband Pat of Kearney, 3 brothers, Howard and Kenneth of Hampton and Marshall of Westbury, New York, one sister Romona Hillman of Syracuse, Nebraska, a sister-in-law Barbara Hahn of Fort Washington, Maryland, and 7 grandchildren.
